Environmental Projects
Our enthusiastic staff and students actively take part in environmental initiatives, such as our highly successful Envirobugs. This lunchtime club for Year 1 and 2 students meets weekly to plant fruit and vegetables, to plan bush regeneration projects, to upkeep our ponds and gardens and to mulch and compost. Our canteen always welcomes their fresh produce! They have also taken part in International Compost Week.
Students from all years take part in Clean-up Australia Day and we have regular environmental excursions to places such as The Rainforest Sanctuary at Ourimbah, Cumberland State Forest and the Royal Botanic Gardens. Lindfield students have also taken sponsorship of a bandicoot at Taronga Zoo.
Lindfield students have been involved in:
- Clean-up Australia Day, including a household survey of plastic bag usage and a school litter audit;
- Earth Hour evening picnic;
- Walk Safely to School Day;
- World Environment Day mini-concert;
- Rubbish Free Lunch challenge; and
- "Envirophone" mobile phone recycling project.
