Music
Music is an integral part of the Arts program at Lindfield Public School. The aim is to provide a professional and enjoyable musical experience for your child whilst developing not only their instrumental music skills but all other associated learning skills such as discipline, leadership, concentration, confidence, self-esteem, commitment and teamwork.
Each week, every student across K-6 engages in a music lesson, taught by a specialist music teacher, linked to the Creative Arts Syllabus.
Lindfield has a number of exceptional Band and String ensembles, excellent choirs and a superb recorder group.
Band
For many years the Lindfield Public School Band Program has earned an outstanding reputation for its excellent ensembles; winning gold, silver and bronze in the NSW School Band Championships and the Yamaha Festival. There are three bands in the program: Junior, Intermediate and Concert Band, open to students in Years 3-6.
Each band member has individual tuition by highly qualified tutors, conducted after school on the school premises.
In addition, the Jazz Band is open to students in Years 4-6 who have previously had a year's experience in the Junior Band and who play a jazz instrument. The Jazz Band is conducted by a fully qualified music teacher.
Strings
The Lindfield Public School Strings program is a substantial tutorial program with Junior (Bach) and Senior (Vivaldi) performance ensembles. Students across K-6 are eligible to join, allowing the opportunity for students to be placed at a level appropriate to their experience. A beginners' ensemble (Mozart) targets students in Year 2.
Highly qualified tutors provide individual violin and cello lessons after school, on school premises.
Choir
The choir program at Lindfield Public School provides opportunities for all students across K-6 to perform vocally within the school and the wider community. There are two choirs: K-2 and 3-6 and every child is welcome to take part. Rehearsals typically take place during lunchtimes.
Recorder
Recorder tuition is an initiative for all students across K -2. Students take part in weekly lessons, tutored by our designated music teacher.
